Sugam Pokharel (Nepali:सुगम पाेखरेल) is a Nepalese pop singer, songwriter, music composer, and radio jockey. His first solo recording, Mero Sansaar (2001), became a top seller in Nepal. He is also known as One Man Band.
Sugam Pokharel has given so many hit and evergreen songs such as “Mero Sansaar,” “K Yo Maya Ho,” “Jadai Chhu Tadha,” “Feri Tyo Din,” “Mero Euta Saathi Cha,” and many more.
His unique voice and ability to sing in different genres gave him the opportunity to sing as a playback singer in the Nepali film industry. The song “K Yo Maya Ho” from the movie Mero Auta Sathi Chha is his debut song as a playback singer.

Early Life and Education:
Sugam Pokharel was born in Mangalbare, Morang on 20 September 1979. His father was a government officer. His elder brother Sunil Pokharel is a theater artist.
After completing of School Leaving Certificate (SLC) from Biratnagar, Sugam moved to Kathmandu for his higher education as well as for his musical career.
Sugam had no desire to record music as a professional singer or to pursue a career as a pop singer, when he met Sudin Pokharel (a.k.a. Rapper DA69) in Kathmandu, both decided to record. In 1995 they both recorded their first song “Ma Maya Garchu,” which became a super flop. After their unsuccessful debut, they came together and record another two songs “Payera Timilai Yesto Khusi Chhu” and “Panchi,” both songs were not successful.
In 1997, Sugam started working as a librarian in Radio Sagarmatha, and later on, he started hosting a musical program. Even after the three biggest flops in his early singing career, he didn’t give up and decided to record his fourth song. “Mero Sansar” was his fourth and first solo song from the “Shoonya” album, which he wrote and composed himself. This song helped to elevate her musical career.
In 2001, he recorded his second solo album 1MB (One Man Band) which become the Super Hit. Sugam’s initial songs like Feri Tyo Din, Kati Din Bitey, Maya Ko Baato, Samhalinchha Kaile Mann, Timi Ma Bhanda, etc. established himself as Pop Star and during the 2000s, he always remained as Pop King.
Sugam has done some Lok Modern Songs, Festival Songs, POP Songs, etc. Most of the Nepali people remember him for the festival song Dashain Tihar.

Sugam Pokharel was married to Liza Pokharel in 2002. They also have a daughter named Angeliza Pokharel. Angeliza is also a singer, her some popular songs are Shubha Dashain and Malai Udna Deu.
